God Doesn’t Make Failures

Did you know that the love of God doesn’t wax and wane based on our
ability to be "righteous"? Did you know that although we were made to
please God, His love doesn’t stop when we don’t please Him? He could
not love us any more than He does, lest He stop loving Himself. You
see, love was not meant to be selfless, it was meant to be unselfish.

The Love of God, pt 2

Then the LORD said to Cain, "Why are you angry? And why has
your countenance fallen? If you do well, will not {your countenance} be
lifted up? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door; and
its desire is for you, but you must master it." – Genesis 4:6-7

Does this sound like an angry God waiting to pounce on the first unsuspecting sinner He can find?

The Love Of God, pt 1

Sure, the title
says "from Genesis to Revelation", but the cornerstone verse for this
whole work comes from John 3:16. If you understand this verse and read
every verse from Genesis to Revelation in light of this one, you will
begin to understand why…

"For God so
loved the world, that He gave His only Son; that whoever would believe
in Him would have eternal life instead of death."

More Thoughts on Marriage

I have seen nearly EVERY marriage of a certain group of people fail. I
hope that I do not sound reprobate for saying this, but I believe that
the contemporary fundamentalist Christian (or claimed to be) church has
done more to destroy marriage as God intended it than the world has.
They have packaged marriage up into rules that go counter to God’s ways
and they judge the appearance of the marriage without taking interest
in the truth of what is really happening. They do not check up to see
if a spouse is being abused, either physically or emotionally. They
just look at the appearance. If you don’t show up at church all
bruised, then you must be OK. And heaven forbid you should go to a
counselor and tell him what’s wrong. Then you are disloyal. No, you are
supposed to take it all and love Jesus and pray and let God fix it.
Right. As Dr. Phil would say, “So how’s that working for you?”

About the Last Days

Eschatology – a beautiful word to describe the study of last days.

I guess that everyone who has a view that we are in the "last days"
as foretold many times in the Bible has their reasons. Some just think
we are because they have been told about it. Others because they have
been counting years and days and think the numbers add up. Some people
just "feel" it. Others look to the particular prophecies of Daniel,
Ezekiel, and others.

I have met only one person who sees the "end" for the same reason
that I see it, and it has nothing to do with the Prophets, but
everything to do with a tower built many thousands of years ago…

Psalms133:1 ¶ (A
Song of Ascents, of David.) Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For
brothers to dwell together in unity! 2 It is like the precious oil upon
the head, Coming down upon the beard, Even Aaron’s beard, Coming down
upon the edge of his robes. 3 It is like the dew of Hermon, Coming down
upon the mountains of Zion; For there the LORD commanded the
blessing–life forever.

Who You Are – Who I Am

It’s important that you know who you are. Oh, there is so much that I could write about that right now. You shouldn’t even consider getting married until you know who you are… but that’s not the reason I’m writing this.

Who are you?

Nothing should exist, yet it does.

I’m talking about things existing in and of themselves. Since all things need a beginning, nothing can exist of itself. If nothing can exist of itself, then nothing should exist at all.

So why are we here? Is that the job of science to answer or philosophy? How about religion?

Let’s clarify some. Science does not exist to answer why; it exists to answer how. It is the realm of philosophy to answer why.

Science: Observe, postulate, theorize, test. Prove or disprove. Adjust, theorize more, test. Prove / disprove. Science can’t tell you why gravity works, just how it works. It can’t tell you why electrons have a negative charge and protons a positive charge, just that they do and how they interact. Science can’t even tell you “why” they interact. Science can look at the underlying forces that cause them to interact, but that’s still in the realm of “how”, not “why”.

Let It Go

Someone sent this to me in an email. It’s REALLY pertinent to today. Personally, I believe that one of the greatest evidences of love is the ability to let someone go.

Why Some Christian Marriages Fail

In the throes of legalism, we have come to “deify” the institution of marriage. We’ve taken one scripture, Malachi 2:16, where God says, “For I hate divorce…” and created whole doctrines around it. I won’t disagree at all that God hates divorce. I hate divorce as well. I’ve been through one, would not wish it on anyone. No one should have to go through that wrenching of the heart, and I believe that nearly every man or woman who has children and loves them goes through a period of personal hopelessness and self-blame for the breakup.

Nevertheless, marriages break up and divorce happens; even to Christians who love God and want to serve Him with all of their heart. WHY? Continue reading
